VPN for Remote Work: Secure Access and Stable Connections
Remote work connects home Wi-Fi, personal devices, cloud apps, and company systems. A VPN can protect the connection to a designated server, but safe work still depends on strong identity controls and well-managed endpoints.
Personal VPN versus corporate VPN
A personal VPN primarily protects an internet connection to the provider's server. A corporate VPN is usually managed by an employer to reach internal systems. They are not interchangeable; follow the organization's IT and security policy.
Account and device security
Enable MFA for work accounts, use supported operating systems, install security updates, and never share work credentials. Lock the screen when away and do not store company information on an unauthorized device.
Stable calls and large transfers
Video meetings are sensitive to latency, jitter, and packet loss, not just download speed. Choose a low-latency route, use Ethernet or reliable Wi-Fi, and pause unnecessary cloud syncing during important calls.
